Handling Tree Emergencies
- If a tree is in danger of falling on a structure, do not go into the building. Trees are heavy and unpredictable after their structure is compromised.
- If any power lines are damaged or down, stay back. Live wires can kill instantly!
- Never try to cut a limb or tree yourself after it has been compromised in any way. Invisible stresses can cause a branch to suddenly shift, causing an extremely unsafe situation for you or others on the ground.
- If a tree is down in a street or roadway, notify police immediately. Do not try to direct traffic yourself. Distracted motorists can create unsafe situations.
